About the Salem Pantry
The Salem Pantry (TSP) works collaboratively to empower our diverse local and regional communities by ensuring the essential right to convenient and reliable access to healthy food. As an organization, TSP is currently in a strategic growth phase, working to address the chronic need for food in Salem and the North Shore.

The Position
The Salem Pantry is seeking a Volunteer and Pantry Services Coordinator to administer TSP’s volunteer programming and act as the primary liaison to our pantry guests. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Partnerships (DPP), the Coordinator position ensures a successful volunteer experience from recruiting to onboarding and training, to event scheduling and communications. The Coordinator is the lead staff member establishing systems and protocols including registration, data collection, reporting, and incorporating pantry guest feedback.
Responsibilities
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and provide ongoing support to all TSP volunteers.
  • Coordinate with the Pantry Store Manager and Operations team to ensure that the volunteer program meets ongoing TSP organizational needs.
  • Administrate the volunteer management and pantry guest service platforms, providing weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Attend distribution events where volunteers are working to ensure the quality of volunteer training, site safety for volunteers, and validity of volunteer services.
  • Be the primary liaison between TSP and both our volunteers and our pantry guests.
  • Coordinate with the Media and Communications Coordinator to provide timely communication and outreach to pantry guests and volunteers.
  • In coordination with the DPP, maintain strong relationships with external partners.

Qualifications
The qualified candidate will:
  • Preferably be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to be well-organized, set work priorities, track and evaluate projects, develop and maintain reports or databases, and meet deadlines.
  • Possess significant technological proficiency, including CRM or volunteer management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Have proven interpersonal skills including excellent listening, public speaking, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all seasons, travel to market locations, and facilitate volunteer training at mobile markets.
  • Demonstrable experience in working with volunteers, including team building and motivating teams to succeed.
  • Exhibit capacity to work in a multicultural workforce, including sensitivity and competence with individuals and groups of diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Exhibit a commitment to and passion for The Salem Pantry mission.
  • Have the ability to lift and transport up to 40 pounds.
  • Have access to a car (mileage reimbursement included).

Compensation
The Volunteer and Pantry Services Coordinator is a full-time position with a salary range of $46,000 to $52,000 and is commensurate with experience. (Benefits include healthcare reimbursement, 401(k) plan with organizational match & paid time off policy).
