Job Description
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant works closely with the PRX Finance Team and business units to support financial accounting and reporting functions for PRX, Inc. Responsibilities include performing general accounting duties and assisting in the preparation of various financial schedules and reports.
Definition of Success
- Supporting business units with financial know-how and insight into accounting practices.
- Producing financial schedules and transactions in a timely and accurate manner to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Enhancing the efficiency and integrity of core financial management systems, NetSuite, and third-party add-ons’ Cash Pro, Namely, Salesforce, and BREX.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for general accounting, including reconciliations and preparation of general journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Creates and maintains supporting schedules to ensure the accuracy of revenue and expense recognition.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close and reporting as well as the audit.
- Backup GL administrator and related systems expert
- Maintains documentation of financial and technical processes, procedures, and internal controls
- Provides financial system and coding support and training for staff
- Provides backup for various financial tasks as needed
- Manages Accounts Payable, credit card activity, and other corresponding expense activity. Includes timely filing of 1099 tax forms and other ad hoc needs.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of the best financial practices and nonprofit financial accounting, budgeting and forecasting, internal control, financial reporting requirements and financial operating systems.
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with an emphasis on detail.
- Ability to convey clear, concise information in verbal, written, electronic, and other communication formats; and to demonstrate active listening while engaging others.
- Highly organized; self-directed; able to handle multiple projects and meet demanding deadlines
- Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships and foster an environment of mutual respect, understanding, trust, and support
- Ability to express independent judgment, to identify opportunities and to determine project guidelines, purpose, follow-through and completion
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent blend of education and experience.
- CPA or MBA a plus
- 4 to 7 years of experience in accounting
- Experience with non-profit organizations a plus

Salary ranges are dependent on location and CPA certification . Some examples for this role are as follows:
Minneapolis: $63,206 to $83,589
Boston: $70,229 to $92,877
