Position Description
 The Senior Director of Finance and Administration will be a strategic thought-partner and lead the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT. This is a new position calling for a strategic and operational leader who can make a big impact by leading the finance and administrative functions of a fast-growing organization with national reach. While there are no direct reports at this time, the Senior Director of Finance and Administration will manage the work of external partners doing the day-to-day accounting, IT systems and human resource administration.
 
The Senior Director of Finance and Administration will also play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as CFLeads continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance and operations leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.
 
Key Responsibilities
 The Senior Director of Finance and Administration will take on the following responsibilities:
 
Financial Management
 ●      Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
●      Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
●      Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donors, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
●      Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.
●      Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
●      Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
●      Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the organization’s overall policy and procedure manual.
●      Oversee and improve administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, 401K plan, grants payment processing, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.
 
Human Resources, Technology and Administration
●      Further develop CFLeads’ human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training, recruiting, and onboarding.
●      Ensure that recruiting processes are consistent and streamlined.
●      Establish and manage a comprehensive training program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies, and procedures.
●      Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants.
●      Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales.
 
Desired Skills and Attributes 
●      Demonstrated track record with leading financial reporting and audits for either a division or significant program area of a nonprofit organization or foundation.
●      Demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial and a self-starter.
●      Ability to multitask and understand how to prioritize tasks based on importance vs. immediacy.
●      Comfortable working in time-sensitive and rapidly evolving situations.
●      High tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, while being efficient with limited resources.
●      Mature judgment and discretion in keeping sensitive information confidential.
●      Proven to be a highly organized operator.
●      Level of reliability and attention to detail that is second to none.
●      Strategic thinker, data-driven and analytical in approach to solving problems.
●      Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with- programmatic and  fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
●      Experience with grants management, including issuing grants as well as reporting to funders on use of grants.
●      Technology-savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
●      Commitment to training programs to educate staff on staff policies and procedures.
●      Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
●      Experience effectively communicating key financial data, including presentations to senior management, the Board or other outside partners/influencers/clients.
●      Success seeing beyond the numbers, identifying trends and new possibilities.

Qualifications
●      8+ years’ professional experience in financial management and accounting, with experience leading multiple functional areas preferred (e.g., finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT).
●      Experience with audit, legal compliance, and budget development.
●      Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
●      Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
●      Four-year college degree or equivalent required.
●      Advanced degree and/or CPA preferred.
