Job Description

CES is looking for a Senior Accountant who is responsible for managing general accounting functions and assisting the Business Manager in the creation and distribution of internal and external financial statements. This position will take primary responsibility for the effective use of the accounting system software in addition to the management of reconciliations, fixed assets, revenue recognition, filings, accounts receivable and payables. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. This person will manage a small team of direct reports and collaborate extensively with the Director of Finance and Operations.  This position will be the representative from the business office on projects throughout the Collaborative.

Essential Functions: 

  • Lead all aspects of the day-to-day accounting function including assisting in financial reporting and audits, reconciliations, revenue recognition, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset management, taxes, filings
  • Manages Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Staff Accountant and is responsible for growth of staff and annual reviews
  • Assists the business manager in the development of key financial and accounting policies and procedures that support the integrity of timely and accurate financial closing and reporting to comply with CES, state and federal requirements
  • Evaluate flow of transactions and processes to ensure proper internal control procedures are maintained and most efficient policies are being practiced
  • Maintain the chart of accounts, updating as necessary
  • Provide financial information and variance analysis to various departments and project managers to ensure budget compliance
  • Assist with company’s external auditors and ensure a clean and timely year-end audit

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ad Hoc financial reporting to support key financial decisions
  • First point of contact answering organizational questions or problem-solving
  • Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Business Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance 
  • A minimum of five years of accounting managerial experience
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting requirements a plus
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Excel software and financial systems 
  • Skilled in the use of the following Google Apps: Mail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendar
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with leadership and as part of a team

Terms of Employment: 12 month (40hr+/wk), benefits according to CES Personnel Policies.
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
