Job Description

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking a Full Time Recruiter for our Migrant Education Program’s (MMEP) Western Region.
An essential function of the position includes developing and then working with a network of schools, agricultural and fishing employers/industries, local and state government agencies, and community based organizations as well as current and prior migratory families and youth to generate referrals of potential migrant students and youth. This person will be regularly participating in recruiting and outreach activities and will also be following up on referrals.  Recruiters will participate in a range of efforts, including community based canvassing, attending and participating in community events.

The Migrant Education Program (MEP) is a federally funded Title I program since 1966 with the amendment of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. MEP or Title I, Part C was reauthorized under the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  Under this contract, we provide supplemental support services for a population of students whose parents or the students themselves are employed doing migratory work in the agricultural or fishing industries. The program offers high-quality and comprehensive educational programs and services during the school year, and as applicable, during the summer or intersession periods, that address the unique educational needs of migratory children.

  • You are excited about working with migratory families and engaging with parents and children in the Western Region of MA.
  • You enjoy face to face recruitment and conversation with families and community partners
  • You are creative and have the ability to developing outreach and promotional materials
  • Coordination of events and outreach activities is something that you do well and has garnered community participation and interest.
  • You are comfortable communicating in Spanish with parents and students in one-on-one, small group and presentational settings and equally comfortable conversing and presenting in English.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Communicate effectively in Spanish with parents and students in one-on-one, small group and presentational settings and equally comfortable conversing and presenting in English.  
  • Communicate and converse effectively in real time with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures
  • Possess a MA driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle available on a daily, regular basis for both planned and spontaneous work related travel both in and out of the state
  • Experience in sales/customer service and/or working in community organizations/agencies that work with similar populations
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with using technology and databases.
  • Able to adjust work schedule to meet the needs of the program and parents, including nights and weekends
  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate with other team members and partner organizations

Work location: Springfield MEP office, requires in-person work both at a designated office and in the Western MA community. This is not a remote work position.

Position status: Full time, 40 hours a week, flexible work schedule to include evening and weekend hours for community outreach.

Compensation: $47,000 -$53,000.

Health Insurance is offered through Tufts/Harvard Pilgrim and includes two plan options: PPO with a self-funded Health Savings Account, and HMO with a Health Reimbursement Account funded by CES to support a portion of health insurance deductions.  FSA and Dependent Care accounts are available. Eligible for MA State Retirement.
