Program & Operations Coordinator

The Valedictorian Project

Job Description

The Valedictorian Project is a 501(c )(3) organization that partners with high-achieving high school graduates from urban schools as they embark on their post-secondary journey.

In January of 2019, the Boston Globe published a series called “The Valedictorian Project,” which interviewed  93 out of 113 Boston Public Schools Valedictorians from the classes of 2005, 2006, and 2007 and profiled their journeys after high school. Of those interviewed, more than half were born outside of the U.S. and nearly 80 percent became the first in their families to go to college. These students excelled during high school, reaching high levels of achievement and fostering big dreams, but many faced significant hardships and challenges throughout college.

That’s where we come in.

TVP has  partnered with students from Boston, Lawrence, Worcester, and Brockton Public Schools on their post-secondary journeys. Each TVP mentee gets both a peer and senior mentor, who provide individualized support and guidance through college. TVP recruits and trains mentors who are passionate changemakers and committed to a more just future.
