Reports to: Vice President for Grants, Nonprofits & Donor Services
Position Summary
Under the direction of the VP For Grants, Nonprofits & Donor Services, the Program Officer is an integral member of the Grants team, responsible for implementing, managing and, at times, designing grant-making programs for a select portfolio of the Foundation's field of interest and discretionary grantmaking programs.
This position will work collaboratively with Donor Services and Communications staffs, ensuring grant opportunities are effectively communicated, grant programs are effectively administered and investments have the desired outcomes intended. This position is an important part of ECCF’s staff team and is essential in ECCF achieving its organizational goals.

1. Act as the relationship manager for a select portfolio of the Foundation's field of interest and discretionary grantmaking programs. Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to assess community needs, identify nonprofits, and align grantmaking approaches that meet the needs of each Fund in the portfolio.
2. Ensure that the assigned Funds are managed and implemented in an effective, strategic, impactful manner and in alignment with fundholders’ and ECCF’s expected outcomes. Understand the purpose of each Fund assigned, build relationships with nonprofit partners through the grantmaking process, and report on the impact of philanthropic investments.
3. Build relationships with Fund advisors and/or grant committees to develop grantmaking programs designed to achieve impact and deliver on best practices, delivering timely grants to nonprofit community partners.

4. Conduct all administrative responsibilities needed to create online grant applications, grant reviews, grant award letters/grant checks, and evaluation/reporting/data collection.

5. Provide research and support to other initiatives or Foundation needs as needed by the VP for Grants, Nonprofits and Donor Services.
6. Act as a professional member of the staff team by offering input and insight as well as performing all other assignments and responsibilities deemed necessary by the VP for Grants, Nonprofits and Donor Services.

· A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.

The following physical and other requirements are considered essential:
Must be able to perform tasks which involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work on a daily basis. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
- Must have access to transportation that allows for various community meetings in the 34 cities and towns of Essex County.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the grantmaking or foundation arena.
- Knowledge about strategic grantmaking models and measuring impact around grantmaking outcomes that leads committees to make effective and strategic grantmaking in alignment with fundholder and ECCF values.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to speak with diverse personalities, strong listening skills, negotiating and reasoning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with volunteers and staff in a team approach.
- Accomplished writing ability, including excellence in persuasive writing, with clear and concise use of grammar and vocabulary.
- Exemplary research skills and ability to deliver data reports to Fund advisors.
- Performance that achieves the high standards, integrity and values of ECCF.
