Job Description

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking an engaging educator to lead a preschool classroom with children who will be entering Kindergarten in Fall 2022 for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program (MMEP) this summer. The program will run for 5 weeks starting on July 5th and will be held at Boland Elementary School. The program will run from 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday. Along with the support of an assistant, the teacher will facilitate a full day of engaging activities. 

The instructor will establish a set daily schedule which should include a morning meeting, rotating centers and developmentally appropriate activities. Activities, materials and suggestions will be provided but it is at the discretion of the instructor to decide on the day-to-day activities. Prep time will be paid for individual and co-instructor planning sessions as well as a short training at the end of June.  

This is you:
Has experience working with young children in a formal or informal setting
  • Has experience working with English learners or other diverse populations
  • Available 35 hours a week between July 5th and August 4th plus prep time and initial training

Essential Functions:
  • Create and maintain a positive and fun environment that is engaging and enjoyable for students 
  • Adapt the daily plan to accommodate the abilities, needs and interests of students
  • Track attendance and participation
  • Communicate regularly with the Academic Programs Manager 

Minimum Qualifications*:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university 
  • One year of teaching experience in a formal or informal setting
  • Are able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • M.A. or M.Ed from an accredited college or university
  • Massachusetts Teacher Certification

Compensation Range: $25-30/hour depending on qualifications

Terms of Employment: This position is 35 hours a week between July 5th and August 4th plus prep time and initial training
