Job Description

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking a classroom assistant for a preschool classroom with children who will be entering Kindergarten in Fall 2022 for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program (MMEP) this summer. The program will run for 5 weeks starting on July 5th and will be held at Boland Elementary School. The program will run from 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday. The classroom assistant will support the instructor in all of the daily routines of the classroom - learning activities, story time, snack time, outdoor time, bathroom breaks etc. The assistant will also support Spanish speaking students and translate between English and Spanish as needed.  

This is you:
  • Comfortable communicating in English and Spanish
  • Has experience working with young children in a formal or informal setting
  • Available 35 hours a week between July 5th and August 4th plus a few hours the last week of June 
 
Essential Functions:
  • Maintain a positive and fun environment that is engaging and enjoyable for students 
  • Support the teacher in adapting the daily plan to accommodate the abilities, needs and interests of students
  • Translate between English and Spanish when needed

Minimum Qualifications*:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Some experience working with young children
  • Are able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university 
  • One year of teaching experience in a formal or informal setting

Compensation: $25/hour

Terms of Employment: This position is 35 hours a week from July 5th to August 4th plus training at the end of June
