Position Description:
The Partnerships and Training Manager has two primary responsibilities. First, they will ensure quality matches between mentors and students by recruiting, interviewing, training, matching, and providing ongoing support for volunteer mentors in their assigned schools as well as ongoing engagement with all volunteer mentors through monthly events. They will also provide support around the nomination, matching, and volunteer mentor engagement to the principal, teachers, and school staff at the schools in their portfolio. Secondly, this position will be the point person for the training of all volunteer mentors prior to their first day at their school. This includes training curriculum development updates as well as overall volunteer mentor engagement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Partnerships Management
  • Recruit, screen, and match academic mentors for schools in their portfolio
  • Recruit, present to, and provide volunteer mentor/student matches for teachers and other relevant school personnel
  • Provide support to volunteer mentors, teachers, families, and students after the match is made
  • Build on and deepen existing relationships with schools and work to develop new school partnerships as well as maintain existing partnerships
  • Build on and deepen existing relationships with mentors to increase retention through newsletters, mentor development sessions, and emails
  • Participate as a member of team meetings and programmatic events
  • Participate as a key member of the AMP! planning committee
  • Participate in program and organization-wide team building and strategic planning events
  • Represent Boston Partners in Education at key partnership and recruitment events (may require some evening hours)

Training
  • Coordinate, audit, and evaluate Boston Partners in Education’s training process across programs
  • Update and maintain training content for program curricula (Accelerate, Aim High, Power Lunch, Independent Learning Support)
  • Develop internal and external training schedules and maintain delivery of the training calendar based on organizational needs, approximately 2-3 a week, depending on the time of year with evening and weekend sessions
  • Coordinate and participate in training-related professional development activities
  • Identify mentor workshop opportunities around specific professional development topics such as Social Emotional Learning Support, using both in-house tools and external partners
  • Work with Partnerships team to create and schedule program-specific Mentor Development Sessions throughout the academic year
  • Coordinate communications with the Partnerships team to ensure all potential mentors are properly enrolled in training sessions, including rescheduled training. 
  • Implement and communicate training policies internally and externally
  • Oversee and maintain a supply of materials for trainings
  • Enter and maintain training data in Salesforce, including scheduled trainings and volunteer training status

Technical
  • Use Salesforce.com proficiently for matching volunteer mentors with students as well as for reporting
  • Enter and maintain training data in Salesforce, including scheduled trainings and volunteer training status
  • Assist in ongoing efforts to use evaluation results to improve program effectiveness
  • Strategic
  • Work with the Program Director to determine best practices in volunteer mentor development and develop appropriate resources
  • Create and maintain a priority list of BPS schools to increase recruitment and retention of volunteer mentors and student matches
  • Coordinate with marketing and partnership team to share stories about students’ successes/growth
  • Support annual volunteer fundraising drive and annual fundraising Gala

Qualifications:
  • College Degree preferred and/or equivalent life experiences
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Highly organized, ability to manage time with strong attention to details
  • Capable of meeting concurrent deadlines
  • Willingness to travel around the city
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented planning skills with the ability to work independently
  • Strong written and dynamic speaking skills with comfort speaking in front of groups
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with databases, particularly with salesforce.com, is a plus
