Operations Associate

MASSCreative

Advocate Creativity

Job Description

MASSCreative seeks an enthusiastic, reliable and detail oriented part-time Operations Associate to support the smooth execution of the financial and administrative tasks that enable MASSCreative to support arts and cultural advocacy across the Commonwealth.

We seek someone who finds comfort in budgeting, loves setting up and maintaining data management systems and always reads the fine print.

Due to the mission and vision of the organization, competitive candidates will have a commitment to equity and deeply believe that arts and culture make Massachusetts more vibrant, inclusive and connected.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Leadership of the Board, including Treasurer and Finance Committee, this part-time position will support the administrative processes of MASSCreative. Competitive candidates will have prior experience with bookkeeping platforms and customer relationship management software.

Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, women, LGBTQIA+-identified persons, and others from historically marginalized communities are encouraged to apply.

Background
Since its founding in 2012, MASSCreative has worked to build a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable Massachusetts by advocating for resources and policies necessary for the arts, cultural, and creative sector to thrive. From retaining talent and contributing to the economic stability of Massachusetts to developing youth into leaders and bringing communities together, the creative sector is essential to the Commonwealth. We believe a strong, well-resourced creative sector results in a stronger Massachusetts.

In its first eight years, MASSCreative unified the arts and culture sector in its advocacy efforts. MASSCreative developed an impressive network of 400 member organizations, a 60-person Leadership Council that supports MASSCreative’s efforts in the field to build a strong statewide grassroots network, and galvanized more than 30,000 Commonwealth residents to take political action in support of the creative sector.

As we work to support the advocacy efforts of the sector through the COVID-19 pandemic, we are called to adapt our strategies and programming to fit the moment. This includes better utilizing online platforms to interpret policy into action, advancing cross-sector and intersectional policies that benefit not just the creative sector but realize a Massachusetts where all artistic forms and cultures are embraced and supported, and better supporting local arts and cultural organizing efforts through partnership and skills building.
