Major Gifts Officer

We are looking to hire a dynamic team member to join our team, working towards fulfilling The Open Door's mission to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community. We serve 10 area cities and towns and use practical strategies to connect people to good food.

The Major Gifts Officer is a full-time position responsible for securing and increasing individual/family gifts that support The Open Door's programs and missions. The Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new prospective donors and families, with a focus on expanding the family philanthropy platform and growing the number of major gifts.
The Major Gifts Officer will also collaborate with other teams within the organization to implement an engagement strategy that fosters cross-team cooperation and alignment with the overall mission. This includes working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Operations team and the Engagement Coordinator, in all areas and across all communities.

The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, will be comfortable representing the organization to various audiences, and will work well with both internal and external stakeholders.

This position is not a typical Monday through Friday role. It is a full-time position that requires some flexibility, as it often involves weekend and evening work to attend donor engagement events. The MGO should expect to attend an average of one evening event per month, and some weekend events throughout the year.
