About NAACBoston:
The Network for Arts Administrators of Color (NAACBoston) is a community of arts administrators and practicing artists from the Greater Boston area and beyond, supported and administered by ArtsBoston. NAACBoston was founded in 2016, when Victoria George, former ArtsBoston Membership Manager, gathered 40 creatives together to generate ways to connect, empower, and elevate arts professionals of color in the arts and culture sector. Now 680+ members and growing, NAACBoston provides platforms for mutual advocacy where arts administrators of color can connect, learn from, and support each other. Programs include an active listserv, a member directory, a mentorship/sponsorship program, panel discussions and other learning activities, and networking events.

Founded in 1975, ArtsBoston is Greater Boston’s largest nonprofit arts service organization, serving dance and theater companies, musical ensembles, performing arts presenters, museums, and other cultural entities. Our award-winning programs engage 110+ member organizations, ranging from large institutions to smaller, community-based groups that make up 60% of our membership, and reach more than 1 million arts consumers each year. ArtsBoston’s marketing expertise, professional development, and research insights foster the growth of an equitable and inclusive arts community in Greater Boston, one that welcomes and represents everyone.
About the Position:
In this critical time for the arts and communities of color, NAACBoston and ArtsBoston seek an Interim NAACBoston Program Manager for a 6-month term to help shepherd the network through a period of transition. The Programs Manager will work closely with the NAACBoston Steering Committee and ArtsBoston team to advance NAACBoston’s strategic momentum and sustainability, strengthen its volunteer and administrative infrastructure, and plan and execute programs that support its membership. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of NAACBoston and to be at the forefront of advocacy and community building work. The ideal candidate will be a team player, comfortable interacting with members, volunteers, and funders, and eager to take initiative.
Responsibilities:
•Work with NAACBoston Steering Committee and ArtsBoston team to understand NAACBoston membership needs and priorities, assessing the challenges of a changing environment to help guide programming and strategy development.
•Plan and execute three networking and learning events that engage and support NAACBoston members, in partnership with the Steering Committee and ArtsBoston staff.
•Help ArtsBoston Development consultants, ArtsBoston Executive Director, and the Steering Committee to advance fundraising strategies to sustain the network, by providing perspective and program details for case building.
•Manage ongoing NAACBoston membership communication, including moderating member listserv, updating membership directory & NAAC webpages on www.artsboston.org, generating content for monthly newsletters via NAAC Mailchimp email list, and post to NAAC social media – with support from ArtsBoston Community Engagement Manager, ArtsBoston PR/Communication consultant, and Steering Committee.
•Support the NAACBoston Steering Committee with recruitment of new members and committee engagement.
•Conduct program evaluation and track expenses.
Knowledge and Experience Desired for this role:
•3-5 years of programming, operations, or project management experience; experience working with membership base preferred.
•Positive attitude: ability to steward volunteer relationships with confidence and build trust with key stakeholders.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, question, and synthesize information in a compelling manner.
•Ability to work with a team, through open communication, accountability, and proactiveness.
•Mission & Values Alignment: A passion for supporting equitable opportunity and professional advancement of arts administrators of color, and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning, and making change through the arts and creativity.
•Experience engaging with and holding space for diverse perspectives and identities, including but not limited to communities of color, disability, age, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation.
•Knowledge of and passion for supporting Greater Boston’s performing and visual arts communities
