Job Description

MetroWest Legal Services (“MWLS”) provides free civil legal aid to eligible residents of the o MWLS service area. We are seeking a full-time Intake Worker to answer calls to the office, screen callers for eligibility for MWLS’ legal services, conduct intakes, provide referrals, provide interpretation for Portuguese speaking clients, and other administrative tasks that support MWLS’ clients and staff. Responsibilities Include:

·       Screen and conduct intake by telephone and/or in-person for people seeking legal assistance from MWLS.
·       Provide clients with information about available resources and services, both within our organization and in the community.
·       Make appropriate referrals to other agencies or service providers as needed.
·       Coordinate with attorneys and clients to gather information and documents from new and existing clients.
·       Collaborate with other team members to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.
·       Maintain client confidentiality and follow all privacy regulations and policies.
·       Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
·       Other administrative duties as needed and assigned.
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

 
Required Education/Training:
·       High School Diploma/GED
 

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

·       Prior experience working at reception desk in an office and/or in a call center and/or telephone customer service environment.
·       Prior experience with data entry and/or conducting intakes at an office that serves low- income people and communities, older adults, and/or people with disabilities.
·       Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Work, Excel).
·       Experience providing in-person interpretation for Portuguese speakers.
 

Skills Required:

·       This position requires fluency in English and Portuguese
·       Ability to provide respectful, confidential and trauma informed customer care to callers and clients.
·       Maintain a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality when managing clients’ personal information.
·       Ability to work collaboratively and be flexible in adapting to various client situations and changes in program procedures.
·       Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
·       Ability to manage stress and identify self-care as needed.
·       Ability to learn and navigate computer, case management, phone and other software used by MWLS employees.
 
Salary/Benefits: Salary is based on a union scale with a starting wage of $24.17/hour; $44,000 annually.
