Job Description

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking friendly, energetic Spanish speakers to conduct educational home visits for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program (MMEP) this summer. Instructors will make a series of home visits to individual and small groups of students. Together they will participate in fun and creative activities while also having the opportunity to practice their English skills. Visits will range from one to two hours and can take place at the student’s home or in a park, library or another public space nearby. All curriculum and teaching materials will be provided ahead of time and there will be training. Instructors must have reliable transportation and be able to work a flexible schedule. This position serves students in the following cities/towns and other surrounding areas: Lynn, Chelsea, Revere, Everett, East Boston

This is you:
  • Spanish speaker who is comfortable in a variety of home settings
  • Flexible schedule (including weekends) with reliable transportation
  • Available 10-20 hours a week between June 20 -  August 14

Essential Functions:
  • Communicate directly with your assigned families to plan visits
  • Offer individual and small group instruction in a home based setting 
  • Create and maintain a positive and fun environment that is engaging and enjoyable
  • Adapt the daily plan to accommodate students abilities, needs and interests of students
  • Track attendance and participation
  • Communicate regularly with the Academic Programs Manager 
 
Minimum Qualifications*:
  • You have 1 year of teaching experience in an informal or formal setting
  • You are bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening
  • Must have a valid driver's license, access to a reliable, insured vehicle, and be comfortable navigating between visits

Compensation Range: $25-$30/hr commensurate with licensure and experience, plus mileage reimbursement

Terms of Employment: This position is for 10-25 hours/week of home visits between June 20th and August 14th.

Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines: Employees are expected to follow current CES Workplace Safety Standards and COVID-19 prevention and mitigation protocols. Employees’ risk of exposure to an infectious disease including COVID may be higher in congregate care settings or residential settings where there is a dense population and or patients receiving health care and treatment. Further, home visits may pose a risk to an employee and safety protocols to minimize risk should be followed with care. CES employees must follow CES policies and comply with their work location specific guidelines. Employees will receive copies of these guidelines and support
