Job Description

Position Summary
Reporting to the Education Director, the High School Equivalency Teacher will work collaboratively with other teachers and staff members to create a personalized and supportive educational environment that prepares students to pass the high school equivalency exams and go on to college. The High School Equivalency Teacher is a dynamic, versatile, flexible educator who values, assesses, and accommodates individual students' learning needs and can create, adapt, and deliver curriculum accordingly. The High School Equivalency Teacher is a committed advocate for the power of education to transform lives and increase access to opportunity.
 
Areas of Responsibility:
1.    Prepare and teach group and individual lesson plans using both published and teacher-created materials that are well-paced, differentiated, and engaging to enhance and support a welcoming learning environment
2.    Engage in long-term curriculum planning in coordination with other teachers
3.    Develop teaching proficiency in areas less familiar, including digital literacy
4.    Provide personalized homework assignments for students 
5.    Monitor, evaluate and respond to student work and provide tutoring as needed
6.    Develop and maintain files of curricular materials, regularly revising and adding
7.    Maintain a classroom conducive to learning with accessible, organized reading materials, supplies, posters, and decor
8.    Participate in afternoon activities and field trips
9.    Maintain regular lines of communication with counselors and other staff members
 
Qualifications:
●     You believe in The Care Center’s mission and values and are committed to supporting the communities we serve.
●     A minimum of 5 of years of experience teaching high school students or adult education
●     Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a diverse, multicultural environment
●     Bachelor's Degree required
●     Valid license and clean driving record required
●     Proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred

Location and Schedule
The Care Center is located at 247 Cabot Street in Holyoke.  This is a full-time exempt position for 35 hours per week.  General work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm, with some flexibility required.  
 
Compensation
The Care Center is committed to equitable pay and benefits include generous time off package; 70% of health insurance; 100% of life and disability insurance; and a 401(k) match.
