What You Will Do
The Family Engagement Coordinator is a member of the BCNC Acorn Center for Early Education & Care team. The state licensed and nationally accredited child care center supports the growth and learning for children from 15 months to 5 years. You will work collaboratively with a team of professional teachers to strengthen children and families by providing high-quality education and care so parents can work or further their education. You will report directly to the Director of Acorn Center for Early Education and Care.

What You Will Do
The Family Engagement Coordinator is a member of the BCNC Acorn Center for Early Education & Care team. The state licensed and nationally accredited child care center supports the growth and learning for children from 15 months to 5 years. You will work collaboratively with a team of professional teachers to strengthen children and families by providing high-quality education and care so parents can work or further their education. You will report directly to the Director of Acorn Center for Early Education and Care.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain respectful, supportive, and ongoing relationships with all families, educators, administrators, and community partners
- Provide support and resources to families through enrollment recruitment, marketing efforts, school tours, parent advisory councils, check-ins, and individual orientations
- Maintain regular contact with all families through quarterly check-ins and home visits (required by Head Start); for Head Start families, develop with parents a family plan and support with resources and encouragement tracking progress
- Coordinate screening and assessment services with families and appropriate organizations for children with special needs
- Work collaboratively with the Education Coordinator to observe and support children with behavioral and developmental concerns. Communicate with families, make referrals with the BCNC Family Service team and collaborative partner organizations (Boston Pre-K, Head Start, Public Schools, Early Intervention), and schedule teacher/parent conferences as needed
- Maintain documentation/recordkeeping in accordance with BCNC, funding, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in required funding meetings and check-ins, professional development activities, staff meetings, supervision, and other meetings assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR within 6 months of employment
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with families • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and related applications
- Experience working with children and families with and/or without disabilities
- Experience working with people of different backgrounds and a high level of cultural competency is highly preferred
- Ability to manage and track multiple tasks, ensuring timely completion and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated commitment to the success of coworkers and to the organizational mission
- Professional working proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking in Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese is required

Working Conditions
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday
- Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary
