Job Description
Friends of Prescott, Inc. seeks a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the position of
Executive Director beginning in 2022. Friends of Prescott is a non- profit organization that
manages the Prescott Community Center located in an historic building in the center of
Groton, MA. Prescott is home to recreational and community education programs, the
Town’s Visitor Center, and to various tenants who rent space in this large building. The
Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Prescott’s
staff, programs, expansion and execution of its mission and will be the public face of the
organization.
This is a half time salaried position requiring approximately twenty hours per week of time.
The person hired will have the opportunity to work with the organization and expand this
position to full time.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Board Governance
Responsible for:
● Leading Friends of Prescott, Inc. (Friends)in a manner that supports and guides the
organization’s mission “To Preserve Prescott for the Community”.
● Communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate
manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make
informed decisions.
Program Development
Responsible for:
● Creating educational and recreational programs for the young people and adults in the
community
● Managing the building, its tenants, leases and ground
● Cooperating with the Town of Groton and other non-profits in community-wide programs
Financial Performance And Viability
Responsible for:
● Fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support Friends’ mission.
● The fiscal integrity of Friends, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual
budget and monthly financial statement which accurately reflect the financial condition of
the organization.
● Grant writing to supplement the operational budget
Organizational Operations
Responsible for:
● Supervision of four staff members
● The recruitment and engagement of volunteers.
● The effective administration of Friends’ day to day operations
● Signing all notes, agreements and other instruments made and entered into and on
behalf of the organization.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Proven track record of success in a leadership position preferably for a non-profit, community
based organization
● Successful resource development, fundraising and philanthropy experience.
● A solid knowledge of accounting, budgeting, financial management and marketing.
● Experience in public speaking. public relations and marketing
● An entrepreneurial spirit, preferably including experience developing and implementing
public-private partnerships to achieve community-wide social and economic goals.
