Job Description
Citizens Inn seeks a dynamic, mission driven and experienced Executive Director to lead their team and ensure long term sustainability. The Executive Director will be a strong leader, with the ability to motivate, inspire, collaborate, and build relationships throughout the community.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director for Citizens Inn will lead the implementation of policies and programs to carry out the organization’s mission, vision and strategic plan. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in community outreach and advocacy, external relations, fundraising, strategic planning, capacity building, finance, human resources and program development. The incoming leader will partner with the board on vision and strategy to set the direction of Citizens Inn for years to come.
In partnership with the Board of Directors and Sr. Leadership Team (direct reports), the Executive Director will create and implement mission, vision, values, strategic plan, measurement and evaluation for the organization; lead community outreach, advocacy, and public relations efforts; serve as the main point of contact for press, government, auditing and monitoring visits; and contribute to local, state and federal level boards, committees, task forces and panels to promote the mission of Citizens Inn while building strong relationships to bolster larger efforts around hunger and homelessness.
The Executive Director will manage a dynamic team of 26 professionals, and oversee all Signature Programs, Development/Fundraising, Communications, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities, Community Outreach, Advocacy, Federal Reporting, and Operations departments.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, preferred, and 5 or more years’ experience. 10+ years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Passionate and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Documented track record of successful experience in development preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal funding mechanisms preferred
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the organizations mission and vision internally and externally.
