Executive Director
Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis
Job Description
About SCEH
The Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing excellence and progress in hypnosis research, education, and clinical practice.
About the Role
The Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH) is seeking a self-starting Executive Director to lead the day-to-day management of the Society as it enters its next chapter. This is the organization’s sole staff role - you will effectively serve as its headquarters office, working closely with an elected President and a small Executive Committee of psychologists, physicians, and researchers to keep the Society running smoothly and its programs thriving. We’re looking for someone strategic, collaborative, and service-oriented, with the interpersonal skills and organizational discipline to manage many priorities at once.
Responsibilities
• Manage the Society’s operations
• Partner with the President and Executive Committee to lead marketing, operations, finances, and events.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for members, prospective members, committees, program participants, vendors, and business partners.
• Plan and produce the Society’s flagship events: a 5-day annual conference each fall - held in person in the U.S. every other year - and a 4-day online spring workshop.
• Carry out bookkeeping and day-to-day financial management.
• Support governance and coordination by attending monthly Executive Committee meetings, a weekly meeting with the President, and committee meetings as needed.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated association management experience and a solid understanding of nonprofit organizational management, operations, and governance.
• Strong strategic, communication, and technical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• A proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, association management systems (AMS), Microsoft Office, and Zoom.
