Description: The Early Childhood (EC) Best Practices Institute Coach is responsible for coaching teams of early educators and administrators/supervisors from six different early education and care (EEC) programs in the Pioneer Valley on providing high quality early education and care.  Coaching will address best practices in early childhood education that includes but not limited to:  provider self-care, developmentally appropriate practices, early childhood (EC) social emotional development and trauma informed care, family engagement, and anti-bias culturally responsive practices.

This is You:

  • You hold a degree in Early Childhood; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • You have at least 5 years teaching experience in Early Childhood 
  • You have at least 3-5 years experience coaching, mentoring and/or supervising early educators
  • You have the ability to develop innovative practices and approaches that are responsive to educator needs; integrates new knowledge about learning; and new state and federal initiatives
  • You have strong writing, presentation, and speaking skills

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in early childhood and/or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with coaching early educators and supporting adult learners
  • Commitment, knowledge and experience on promoting provider self-care, early childhood (EC) social emotional development and trauma informed care, family engagement, and anti-bias culturally responsive practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in video conferencing, MS Word and Google Suite tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Bilingual/bicultural skills helpful 
  • Reliable car and valid driver’s license
  • Able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Masters degree and 3+ years work experience in early childhood or related field
  • Familiarity with the field of early education and care and the MA Department of Early Education and Care

Highlights of What You Will Do:

  • Attend and actively engage in institute professional development workshops 
  • Provide 5 individual coaching sessions to each participating program team that is composed of a supervisor/administrator and at least 1 to 3 early educators.
  • Attend, co-facilitate and actively engage in institute monthly professional learning communities (PLC) discussions
  • Attend and participate in coaches orientation, institute opening and closing convening session, and PLCs
  • Communicate and collaborate to function as a leadership team for the institute with the CES Early Childhood Director and Early Childhood Professional Development (EC PD) Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with CES Early Childhood Dept. staff and PD session presenters to grow a strong resource folder for institute participants
  • Support data collection throughout the institute and contribute to institute final report

Position: Part-time position; late January to June 2022 with approximately 4-7 hrs/wk
