Driver/Travel Companion: Part-time (On-Call)

Job Description

Beacon Hill Village (BHV) is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to safely transport and escort our older adult members to and from appointments, social events, trips to the airport, and other activities primarily in the Greater Boston area. Responsibilities include assisting with walking, opening doors, carrying packages, and assisting with luggage as needed. Additionally, drivers may be asked to provide grocery shopping and delivery services and other errands for our members. Opportunity for weekly grocery shopping and delivery with consistent hours is also available.

Part-time work is flexible and on call, with a request to fulfill on average of 10-15 hours per month.

Occasional opportunities for longer distance rides within MA, with additional compensation for mileage.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years driving experience and an excellent driving record with a current MA license in good standing.
  • Must own your own 4-door vehicle, which must be clean, well-maintained, reliable and insured with required minimum coverages. Non-smoking cars only.
  • Able to assist with walking aids, opening doors, helping older adults in and out of vehicle, and carrying packages of up to 30lbs
  • Must pass CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information),driving record checks, and a driving evaluation with BHV staff person.
  • Must have a reliable cell phone and navigation system.

Preferred Qualities:
  • Enjoy working with older adults
  • Flexible, hard-working, kind, and patient
  • Knowledge of Greater Boston area geography.
