The Massachusetts Affordable Homeownership Alliance (MAHA) is a non-profit community organization that is dedicated to increasing affordable homeownership, breaking down barriers for first-time and first-generation homebuyers, and closing the racial homeownership gap in Massachusetts.

MAHA was founded in 1985, and our office is located in Dorchester. We offer homebuyer and homeowner classes in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole virtually and in-person. MAHA works extensively to enforce the Community Reinvestment Act, a state and federal law which requires banks to meet the credit needs of low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.

The Role: 
 We are seeking a Director of Homeownership Education & Operations who, as part of our Leadership Team, will play a key role in advancing our homebuyer education program to meet our mission. The Director will perform a variety of highly skilled functions and lead our team of HUD Certified Homeownership Advisors, working closely with the Team Lead to ensure operational excellence. Our ideal candidate will bring a focus on mission impact and possess excellent supervisory and management skills, mortgage lending experience, and familiarity with HUD and CHAPA compliance. The candidate will streamline processes to increase efficiency and find innovative, cost-effective solutions to achieve MAHA's strategic objectives while emphasizing excellent customer service for our many homebuyers and homeowner graduates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Homebuyer Education 

·       Manages the Homeownership Education team, working closely with the Team Lead to ensure high-quality
        classes are being conducted, housing counseling offerings are offered and excellent customer service
·       Recruits, hires, trains and develops HUD Certified Housing staff when needed
·       Facilitates Homebuyer Education department meetings, 1-1 coaching sessions, and annual reviews.
·       Stays current on mortgage lending and industry policies, procedures, and trends.
·       Develops, reviews, and updates Homebuyer Education Playbook, department policies and procedures in
        conjunction with the Executive Director.
·       Develops and implements new systems, procedures, and processes in homebuyer education, counseling,
        and other programs to improve customer flow and experience, service delivery and comply with regulatory
        requirements.
·       Collaborates with other Directors to discuss department trends, needs and joint efforts
·       Manages contracts with funders, including invoicing, and reporting quarterly to funders as needed.
·       Works with the Team Lead and Homebuyer Education Team to manage monthly data collection and
        analysis to generate production reports and dashboards for the Executive Director and Board of Directors
·       Manages audits performed by funders and regulators for Counseling, and special programs.
·       Oversees office schedule and appropriate office coverage of all staff, coordinating with the Team Lead on
        daily operations

Homeownership Operations
·       Strategize with the Executive Director to establish a working action plan to advance the organization’s
        mission and present innovative and effective ideas to increase sustainability and exceed company goals
·       Maintains compliance and remains current with public and private funder requirements for data
        management and reporting
·       Collaborate with MAHA’s staff, consultants, board, committees, Homebuyers Union members, and class
        participants collectively close the racial wealth and homeownership gaps
·       Represent MAHA on advisory councils, panels, boards and forums
·       Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including class presenters, city and
       state officials, insurance representatives, and others as required 
·       Establish a positive mission-driven culture by providing ongoing coaching, professional development
       planning, and support 
·       Analyze current processes and implement strategic improvements for internal operations to increase data
        integrity and enhance staff access to integral information
·       Play a significant role in planning events, including our annual signature fundraiser, the Taste of
        Dorchester® 
·       Other duties as designated by the Executive Director
Requirements:
·       Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree with 3 years of management experience 
·       Previous experience in a non-profit organization setting (Preferred)
·       Previous homebuyer advising/counseling experience (Preferred)
·       Demonstrated skills and experience in providing dynamic leadership, problem-solving beyond conventional
        methods, championing and facilitating change, and building confidence among peers, and the community.
·       Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects from inception to
        implementation and evaluation, in a detail and deadline-oriented environment. 
·       Experience in managing teams, supporting cross-functional collaboration, developing/mentoring staff, and
        setting clear objectives.
·       Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and report writing.
·       Technologically advanced and highly proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
·       Understanding of federal and state lending regulatory and compliance requirements.
·       Strong technical skills, including developing reports and designing presentations for a variety of audiences.
·       Experience with culturally and economically diverse communities.
·       HUD Housing Counseling certification is necessary either at the outset or within 6 months of hiring
·       Comfortable using various social media platforms for promotion purposes (Facebook, Instagram, and
        Twitter)
·       Excellent oral and written skills
·       Access to a car is essential
