The Huntington Theatre Company is seeking a Director of Finance. Director of Finance
STATEMENT OF JOB:
The Director of Finance oversees and manages all financial systems of the Huntington Theatre Company with an annual budget of approximately $15M. They are responsible for a leadership role in financial decision-making that affects the theatre and will provide strategic financial input to senior management. The Director of Finance will develop and implement financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of our company. The Director of Finance reports to the Managing Director.
Responsibilities
Direct all financial activities and accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, audit, tax reports, individual manager reports, grants management, financial forecasting, and cash flow monitoring.
Supervision of daily operations of accounting staff, procedures and function including review of accounting system entries to ensure the department is providing accurate financial services on the highest level and in compliance with all generally accepted accounting principles and regulations.
Manage annual organizational budget process, as well as monthly and quarterly budget reports and projections.
Oversee the preparation of all annual budgets including Capital budget and quarterly forecasts.
Advise Managing Director and Board on non-profit financial management practices and regulations.
Review expenditures and financial reports, taking corrective measures as needed.
Manage month end close process.
Maintain and manage the use of the Huntington's accounting system including its full integration with the Huntington's ticketing and fundraising system (Tessitura)
Serve as the principle staff liaison person to Board finance, investment and audit committees, and coordinate relationships with investment managers and consultants.
Coordinate annual financial audits through preparation of all supporting documentation and management of on-site audit activity.
Manage relationships with financial institutions, lenders, and underwriters of ongoing operations.
Maintain an accurate asset management system and overseeing the accounting implications of all capital acquisitions and disposals.
Perform all aspects of cash management including monitoring and regular reporting of the Huntington's cash flow and investment accounts
Ensure that restricted gifts and grants are properly administered.
Complete special projects as assigned by Managing Director.
Qualifications
CPA or Master of Finance preferred, BA/BS required
Seven to ten years of experience in accounting for 501(C)(3) organizations, financial analysis and budgeting with knowledge of financial principles and practices in nonprofit organizations, preferably in theatre or performing arts
Hands on finance professional who will work alongside staff.
Experience with Tessitura or similar database software helpful
Proven ability to plan and implement financial systems and procedures which allow an organization to operate smoothly, flexibly, and with integrity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish priorities and juggle numerous assignments at one time.
