Job Title: Director of Advancement
 
Reports to: Executive Director
 
Background:Family Promise Metrowest (FPM) is a regional not for profit organization that offers a community response to families with children who are facing homelessness by providing shelter, transitional living and homeless prevention and diversion support. We are proud of our success in helping families reach individual goals that move them out of homelessness and into sustainable employment and housing. FPM’s comprehensive programs are informed by the root causes of poverty and housing insecurity. We’re a dedicated, inclusive, and diverse team that respects all people, communities, and cultures. 
 
Role:FPM is seeking an innovative, results-driven, dynamic leader who will collaboratively design, develop and execute the FPM communications and development plan in the achievement of the organization’s mission. The Director of Advancement is a member of the leadership team and supervises all fundraising efforts, communications channels, community outreach, and volunteer engagement and is responsible for retaining and expanding existing fundraising streams and raising increased revenue from annual campaigns, major donors, special events, individuals, foundations, and corporate donors.  FPM’S annual Operating budget is $1.7 million.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Strategic Leadership
  • Be an innovative and dynamic leader who will oversee all communications, fundraising, outreach, volunteer programs and revenue streams.
·       Support Executive Director in implementing the strategic plan and evaluating progress toward outcomes. Manage work groups as assigned.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive communications and development plan with specific and measurable goals related to cultivating individual, corporate, foundation, special event, and volunteer philanthropic support to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and with the board.
  • Collaborate with team to develop a departmental budget; monitor and prepare regular reports on expenditures and cash flow projections.
  • Track revenue and fundraising trends, using data to predict future opportunities for expansion efforts and avoid any downtrends in areas of giving.
  • Oversight and expertise with CRM, in-kind tracking, statistical data collection and reporting on fundraising initiatives, communications strategies, and volunteer outreach.
Individual Donors
  • Manage the creation of strategies that nurture loyalty and cultivate, solicit, retain, recognize, and increase the number of consistent donors who regularly make gifts.
  • Partner with ED to develop and grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors. 
  • Lead prospect research activities, identifying opportunities for FPM to build its presence and donor relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Special Events 
  • Supervise and collaborate with all fundraising/special event staff and volunteers to have a Spring Walk and Fall ‘Keeping the Promise’ event.  
  • Successfully meet or exceed special events revenue goals including meeting or exceeding revenue from sponsorships, peer to peer fundraising, event auctions, participants, and attendees
  • Supervise and support Special Events Coordinator in meeting Special Events Revenue goals
 
Strategic Communications
·       Oversee the planning and production of the annual report and communications related to annual fundraising campaigns.
·       Oversee content strategy and creation for all digital channels including the organizational website and social media channels.
Corporate Partnerships
  • Interface with business community and cultivate strong working relationships with a long-term focus.
  • Develop relationships and promote active engagement with corporations to effectively leverage philanthropic, volunteer, and in-kind corporate support.
Grant Administration
·       Develop and oversee Grant Management system in collaboration with Executive Director including researching new grant opportunities, preparing, tracking, and submitting high quality funding proposals and maintaining accountability standards to all funders. 
·       Coordinate with Program Director and Finance team to track progress against grant activities/outcomes, review grant awards, and report on grant expenses for assigned programs.
·       Annually track all grant activity, providing regular reports on progress.
Volunteer Management/Community Outreach
·       Represent FPM at business and community-based meetings to build and maintain relationships with business and community partners.
·       Supervise and support Community Engagement Coordinator in developing and implementing volunteer program, outreach efforts, and coordinating in-kind donations helping ensure that Volunteers have meaningful experiences and are trauma-informed and DEI sensitive
·       Supervise and support the Public Policy and Community Engagement Manager in efforts to increase understanding of and resources related to affordable housing. 
Competencies and Requirements:
  • Experience in development, special events, marketing communications, corporate relations, individual donor programs, and grant writing.
  • Experience in Supervision and Leadership.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in creating and managing development initiatives and budget.
  • Demonstrated track record of increased acquisition and retention of individual donors.
  • Experience with soliciting $10,000+ individual gifts
  • Demonstrated track record of securing grant fundings in the $50-$250k range.
  • Understanding of fundraising best practices, CFRE preferred.
  • Ability to establish performance measures, monitor results and evaluate the efficacy of the fund development program and all associated donor data.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to delegate, supervise and successfully manage multiple time-sensitive projects. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to interact with volunteers, business communities and agency representatives.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver with the ability to see the full scope of problem/project to diagnose core issues then generate, evaluate, and implement solutions.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion by respecting and valuing differences among colleagues and stakeholders and advocating for social justice. Excellent communication skills, 
  • Strong public speaker and ambassador for FPM.
 
 
 
 
 
Compensation: Salary range is $85,000-$95,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
 
This position is full-time, at-will, exempt with a hybrid work schedule available. Some required work hours are outside of regular work hours.
