Job Description
Title: Development Officer
Department: Philanthropy
Reports To: Executive Director, Asian Community Fund
FLSA Classification: Exempt FTE: 1.00
Supervises: None
Hybrid Schedule (subject to change): In office two days a week, generally Tuesday and Thursday. Remote work three days a week. Available for in-person community convenings and events as needed.
Position Budgeted: $75,000.00 to $90,000.00
Position Summary:
The Development Officer will play a pivotal role in developing and strengthening processes to support the fundraising goals of the Asian Community Fund (ACF) at the Boston Foundation and its corresponding initiatives, including the Asian Business Empowerment Council, the AAPI Arts and Culture Collaborative, and the AAPI Mental Health Collaborative.
This position will oversee and optimize data management processes, manage receivable collection and tracking for secured gifts and commitments, drive our annual fundraising gala and signature events, and implement systems for enhancing pipeline development and donor stewardship in collaboration with TBF’s Development and Donor Services (DDS) team. The Development Officer will have a strong project management background and an ability to inspire internal and external stakeholders to partner with ACF in elevating the resources and connections needed to support Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities across Massachusetts.
Essential Functions:
Development Management
- Implement systems for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; proactively recommend system improvements that promote efficient flow of donor information to appropriate users;
- Coordinate ACF leadership, staff, and Committee members in making asks by preparing monthly outreach lists and conducting prospect research;
- Identify grant-based funding opportunities and provide timely information to ACF leadership for qualification. Support grant writing and submission in partnership with DDS operations team;
- Collaborate with colleagues across the DDS department, identifying opportunities for deepened alignment and engagement across TBF’s donor community;
Event Management
- Drive planning and fundraising efforts for ACF’s annual gala and contribute to other signature events in partnership with ACF leadership;
- Identify opportunities to engage donors and prospects across ACF’s programmatic initiatives and convenings;
- Facilitate outreach in securing sponsorships and partnerships for ACF’s gala and signature events, collaborating with ACF leadership, staff, and Committee members
- Represent ACF externally, including participation in community events and coalitions.
Data Management
- Track and manage all commitments and gifts through organizational systems, and follow up on outstanding pledges to ensure that financial commitments are received on time;
- Maintain protocols for the Salesforce database, ensuring that all entered information is timely, accurate, and up to date;
- Train and support staff and Committee members in system policies and procedures that promote quality donor data and data integrity;
- Conduct regular analysis and reporting on fundraising progress and donor trends, in consultation with ACF leadership and DDS operations team.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Individuals assigned to this position may perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Preparation, Knowledge, Previous Experience:
- At least 5+ years of work experience with 2 years of fundraising or project management experience; and
- Experience with moves management, prospect research and outreach, data entry and analysis, and event planning.
Skills, Abilities, Competencies:
- Passion for the goals of ACF and familiarity of the needs facing the AAPI community in Massachusetts;
- Strong capacity to manage simultaneous projects and adapt to changing priorities;
- Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail and accuracy;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Database experience using Salesforce or an equivalent Customer Relations Management (CRM) platform strongly preferred;
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products - especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
- Excellent presentation & reporting skills;
- Must be independent, proactive, and able to work under the pressure of deadlines;
- Participatory and collaborative work style; ability to give and receive feedback;
- Strong cultural competency; ability to interact well with a diverse range of people; and
- Willingness and ability to handle confidential information.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Ability to work at workstation for long periods of time;
- Ability to use a keyboard and electronic screen for extended periods of time;
- Ability to use phone and/or video communications effectively and efficiently; and
- Able and available to work on-site and remotely as required.

The Asian Community Fund (ACF) is the first and only philanthropic fund in Massachusetts dedicated to the needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
