Job Description

Science Club for Girls (SCFG), a Cambridge-based non-profit established in 1994, seeks a dynamic and passionate Development Manager to help drive the growth and success of our programs. This new role will focus on  managing our structured corporate volunteer activities, planning fundraising events, and supporting corporate development activities. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role includes ample room for collaboration with all members of the SCFG team on strategy, creativity, and making a big impact on our growing organization! SCFG fosters excitement, confidence and literacy in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for girls and gender expansive youth in grades K-12, especially from communities underrepresented in STEM. We do this by providing free, experiential programs, held after school and on the weekends, in-person in Cambridge, Boston, Somerville, as well as in virtual formats in Greater Boston and the Gateway Cities. 

The Development Manager will play a vital role supporting the Development Team’s $2.65M fundraising goal (FY26) by leading corporate engagement in our Curriculum Packing Project and online TV show. The Development Manager will be responsible for recruiting Packing Event Sponsors, organizing and hosting Packing Events, and overseeing corporate volunteers who will inventory, prepare, and pack curriculum supplies.  The Development Manager will also recruit and onboard TV show sponsors and facilitate their involvement with the TV show’s production team. The Development Manager will also support the planning and production of our Annual Catalyst Awards, including managing volunteer committees, recruiting event volunteers, and securing sponsors.

Corporate Development
  • Recruit and retain Corporate Packing Partners to ensure all materials are ready for the start of the semester (Fall and Spring).
  • Recruit sponsors for the tv show and facilitate their engagement with the show’s production team.
  • Facilitate Corporate Volunteer Service days. 
  • Process all documentation including pledge forms, invoices, and payments. 
  • Work with Communications and Marketing Manager to ensure sponsors and corporate volunteers are celebrated and thanked in a timely manner. 
  • Continuously promote additional engagement opportunities for corporate partners and individual volunteers to support continued organizational expansion.
  • Give Powerpoint presentations via Zoom and at in-person events to recruit partners and educate them on SCFG’s mission and impact.  

Event Planning 
  • Organize fundraising events, including donor receptions, community outreach events, and virtual campaigns. Coordinate event logistics, including guests lists, email communications, registration materials, post-program follow-up, as well as serving as vendor liaison.
  • Support planning of Annual Catalyst Awards Reception, our signature fundraising event (this year’s event will be on Thursday, May 8, 6-9pm at The Grand). 
  • Recruit, train, and serve as key contact for fundraising event volunteers. 
  • Attend event planning meetings with committee members and vendors.
  • Serve as primary contact for third party fundraisers and point of sale campaigns.


General Responsibilities 
  • Identify and research prospective corporate partners and donors.
  • Manage data entry, report generation, and gift processing. Ensure Salesforce database records are up to date and accurate. Run, maintain and distribute Salesforce reports as needed.
  • Draft compelling acknowledgement letters specific to the gift and donor’s preferences and send within 2-days of gift receipt. 
  • Maintain Salesforce database and support integration with Mailchimp to allow for email segmentation and relationship tracking.
  • Represent Science Club for Girls at networking, professional, and other community events as necessary. 
  • Support the work of the Development Team and serve on cross-functional project teams as necessary throughout the organization. 
  • Attend organization events and activities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Development. 
  • Be available on occasional nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS 
  • 5+ years of non-profit fundraising experience, either professional or as a volunteer.
  • Ability to confidently represent SCFG at fundraising events, corporate engagement, and community outreach events, presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Prior experience with organizations serving girls and/or under-resourced communities preferred. 
  • Enthusiastic attitude about bringing new ideas, strategies, and connections to a growing organization.
  • Ability to be organized and detail oriented, also to track and execute tasks reliably.
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills and a commitment to working respectfully with individuals of different races, ethnic groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, and life experiences.
  • Strong computer skills, including Google workspace, email marketing applications, and databases/CRM. Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to honor confidential information.
  • Commitment to continuous learning through reading mainstream and trade publications and participating in conferences and other educational opportunities to keep up with best practices in fundraising and volunteer management.
  • Must be a MA resident.
  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds.

SALARY AND BENEFITS 

SCFG is located in Kendall Square, a 10-minute walk from the Kendall/MIT MBTA station. This is a hybrid position. Currently, SCFG staff are working 2 days/week in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 3 days/week remotely. Occasionally, SCFG participates in organizational or partner related events that occur on weekdays and weekends. The salary range for this position is $67,000-$72,000. Benefits include 401(k), health and dental insurance, 3-weeks paid time off plus one week off at the end of the calendar year, 12 paid holidays, and 6 personal/sick days annually. This position is open to Massachusetts residents only.
