Development Coordinator
Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a community-based non-profit organization that works to significantly reduce hunger and food insecurity and to allow people in need in Greater Lawrence to have access to basic necessities, with dignity, respect, and privacy. We seek to engage the community and to provide opportunities to serve, for both donors and volunteers. Each week, we offer several mobile market food pantries which are strategically located within neighborhoods where our clients live. We provide healthy and nutritious non-perishable foods, fresh produce, and other basic needs to anyone who is hungry or in need. Our small staff is the framework within which we engage a large group of volunteers each week to help us nimbly respond to the changing needs within the community.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Development Coordinator works independently under the Executive Director (ED) and in conjunction with the NIN Board of Director’s Fundraising Committee to develop and implement a yearly fundraising plan, to raise $764,000. This position is responsible for planning and carrying out fundraising activities including annual campaigns, special events, grant writing and corporate outreach, as well as building individual donor development capacity. This is a part-time, flexible weekly position and requires some evening and weekend work.
REGULAR DUTIES:
- Support year-round grant cycle through research, writing and reporting and communication with foundation, government, and non-profit funders.
- Staff annual fundraiser, Soup’s On! dinner & auction, working with FR Committee volunteers to plan and implement the event, including soliciting corporate sponsorships and managing event/online auction software.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with individual donors and cultivate and engage new donors while expanding planned giving tools such as bequests, gifts of stock and donor advised funds.
- Maintain Donor database, track gifts, prepare donor receipts, and analyze revenue trends.
- Coordinate annual campaign, newsletter and other mailed and electronic communications that include donor solicitations.
- Prepare regular fundraising reports.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUAILIFICATIONS:
- Passionate about addressing food insecurity and diaper need in Greater Lawrence.
- 3-5 years of professional development related experience including grant writing, donor development, and event planning.
- Excellent writing, editing, analytical and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook, and fundraising event and CRM software.
- Exceptional organizational skills and highly detail oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting a variety of deadlines, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must demonstrate both the ability to work independently and with diverse teams of co-workers, including volunteers with a variety of backgrounds and skillsets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or BA in related field.
COMPENSATION: commensurate with experience. While some in-office work is required, work-from-home flexibility is possible. Position includes vacation, sick, and holiday pay.
