Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-based organization working on the front lines of climate change and clean water protection. Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Associate provides critical support for CRWA’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role is ideal for someone in the earlier stages of their career who is looking to gain experience in a wide range of Development and marketing-related activities and grow within the organization and non-profit space.

This position is a hybrid remote/in-office position located in CRWA’s Boston office. Fully remote candidates will not be considered.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Development Operations

  • Database entry

  • Mail and gift processing

  • Donor Acknowledgments 

  • Donor and prospect research

  • Assist with arranging meetings/calendars for Executive Director and Development Director

  • Work with Development Manager to plan and prepare meetings for both internal and external constituents

Grant Management

  • Manage grant calendar and lead bi-weekly grant application check-in meetings

  • Research new grant funding opportunities 

  • Draft and submit proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives

  • Support program team with program grant requests

  • Monitor and maintain funder reporting schedules and documentation

  • Draft compelling progress reports to funders

Development Events + Communications Support

  • Proofread and prepare proposals, donor solicitation letters, and mass fundraising emails

  • Organize/assist with special events

Development Team Support

  • Remain informed about emerging and best practices in the development field

  • Support other development and administrative activities as needed 

  • Provide support on additional projects as necessary 

  • Conduct work in accordance with CRWA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail and follow-through

  • Strong proofreading skills

  • At least one year of experience in fundraising or in an administrative role, non-profit experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalence 

  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Technical competency and capacity to learn new software systems

  • Knowledge of GSuite, Google Docs and Google Sheets, and fundraising database systems (Donor Perfect) preferred

  • Understanding of social media and design best practices preferred

  • Capable of working independently and taking initiative

  • Excellent oral and written communication/customer service skills and the ability to communicate the mission of CRWA to external stakeholders

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time position based in Boston with competitive salary and benefits, including generous paid time off, employer contributions to health insurance premiums and retirement plan, and a public transit stipend. CRWA’s office operates on a hybrid remote/in-person schedule. Starting salary for this position is $55,000 annually.
