We are seeking a Deputy Director of Emergency Shelter to join our team.
The primary function of the Director of Emergency Shelter (DDES), is to oversee Hildebrand’s Emergency Shelter program—Congregate and Scattered Site locations. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer(CPO), the DDES, in an integral part of the Programs team, and a key contributor to the organization. The DDES implements proactive systems and approaches that create a supportive, trauma informed, therapeutic, inclusive, whole-family environment that is focused on client’s strengths and developing client’s self-sufficiency. The DDES ensures that families can navigate systems and address barriers within and out of Hildebrand. The DDES has a strong understanding of homelessness, healthcare systems and physical and mental health, youth development, domestic violence, documentation issues, cultural diversity, and inclusivity.

What You Will Do:
Drive Program Planning, Development & Implementation
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization’s Emergency Shelter program. Provide supervision and accountability for direct service delivery of direct reports.
- Monitor programs for content, quality assurance, service delivery, equality, and procedural consistency.
- Support the CPO sustain organization culture, uphold its values and draw connections between them and day to day operations such that employees understand how their work contributes to their advancement. Work with staff across the organization to ensure high quality project management.
- Develop, create and implement innovative, productive, and supportive programming using a trauma informed model that meets the needs of the families and contributes to the overall milieu.
- Manage On-Call schedule rotation, binders and cell phones
Lead Clinical Oversight
- Provide clinical support and supervision to supervisors and their staff.
- Ensure staff are making appropriate referrals for service.
- Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary service team and work in partnership with service providers from outside agencies.
- Coordinate and facilitate Case Conferences when appropriate.
- Organize and coordinate Trauma Informed Care, Client-Centered, Motivational Interviewing, and Cultural competency in-house trainings.
- Provide statistical and programmatic information needed by the CPO for ensuring timely billing of all contracts.
- Interact with Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) an ensure compliance with EA Scope of services.
- Maintain accurate reporting in state required client information management system (currently HMIS/ETO/ASIST).
- Provide ongoing input into the development and implementation of a cohesive reporting system. Ensure that program staff accurately captures both qualitative and quantitative programmatic and clinical data.
- Prepare necessary data, provide information, and produce routine reports that reflect client outcomes and demographics.
- Interface effectively with the Program Manager to track agency compliance with required documentation and data collection efforts.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, support and evaluate direct reports to ensure we retain top talent and staff are aligned with the organization’s values.
- Support the professional development of staff, their core competency development, their career pathway and identify their place on Hildebrand’s 9-Block assessment.
- Ensure that payroll and other reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.

What You Will Need to Bring:
- Education– Master’s degree in social work
- Licensure- Current Independently Licensed Social Worker (LICSW)
- Language- Bilingual- Spanish/Haitian Creole.
- Skills- Proven clinical and biopsychosocial assessment skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Excel, and must possess strong computer skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience- 5 – 7 years progressive management and supervisory experience in a human service environment
- Current working knowledge of homelessness and Continuum of Care Programs.
- Must have demonstrated leadership experience, collaborating, and building and fostering teamwork.
- Experience in managing congregate and/or multiple locations in milieu-based treatment setting a plus.
- Proven ability to successfully manage several projects simultaneously, quickness, agility, and ability to exercise sound judgment in managing a crisis.
- Experience working with people from broadly diverse ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds.
- Previous experience as an administrator in a housing/homeless service environment.
- Previous experience working in or in conjunction with community health centers or hospitals.
- Experience with governmental contracts.
