Communications and Membership Manager

MASSCreative

Advocate Creativity

Job Description

MASSCreative seeks an excellent written communicator and dynamic thinker to grow and support the organization’s network of 400 organizational members and 26,000 individual advocates as well as manager our communications platforms including website, social media and emails.

We seek someone who loves building community through communication and online connection, is eager to share the work of MASSCreative with potential members and advocates, knows their way around a spreadsheet and can clearly communicate in under 250 characters or a great insta post.

Reporting to the Executive Director and the Director of Engagement and Organizing, this full-time position will manage the organization’s annual membership renewal drive, identify and recruit new members and execute the organization's communications to its network of supporters and advocates. Candidates must demonstrate an aptitude for CRM software and spreadsheets.

Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, women, LGBTQIA+-identified persons, and others from historically underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply.

Background
Since its founding in 2012, MASSCreative has worked to build a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable Massachusetts by advocating for resources and policies necessary for the arts, cultural, and creative sector to thrive. From retaining talent and contributing to the economic stability of Massachusetts to developing youth into leaders and bringing communities together, the creative sector is essential to the Commonwealth. We believe a strong, well-resourced creative sector results in a stronger Massachusetts.

In its first eight years, MASSCreative unified the arts and culture sector in its advocacy efforts. A key to that success was the development of an impressive network of 400 dues paying member organizations, creating a 60-person Leadership Council that supports MASSCreative’s efforts in the field to build a strong statewide grassroots network, and galvanizing more than 30,000 Commonwealth residents to take political action in support of the creative sector.

As we work to support the advocacy efforts of the sector through the COVID-19 pandemic, we are called to adapt our strategies and programming to fit the moment. This includes better utilizing online platforms to interpret policy into action, advancing cross-sector and intersectional policies that benefit not just the creative sector but realize a Massachusetts where all artistic forms and cultures are embraced and supported, and better supporting local arts and cultural organizing efforts through partnership and skills building.
