Job Description

Position Summary:

The Cemetery Services Associate is a full time regular or temporary position that assists with all service-related activities to ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently. The Associate helps execute sales of interment spaces, interments, cremations, memorial settings, chapel use, and customer service procedures. The Associate communicates with the general public, Funeral Directors and Memorial Dealers with a high level of professionalism and care. The Associate interfaces closely with the Director of Cemetery Services, Interment Crew Foreman, Memorial Crew, and Office Staff. The Cemetery Services Associate supports company operations - maintaining procedures, communication, and organizational efficiency.


Essential Duties of the Cemetery Services Associate:

  • Assist in managing the Cemetery’s sales plan and programs, both short and long term, to supports sales and revenue objectives of the organization. Work with Funeral Directors and the public for Pre and Immediate Need Sales.
  • Assist with managing cemetery inventory and maps, tracking available lots, supporting lot sales, and coordinating reservations to maintain accurate availability and efficient allocation
  • Coordinate scheduling and documentation for cremation and interment services; liaise with Funeral Directors and service staff, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and respectful handling of all information related to the deceased and their families.
  • Assist with Columbarium inurnments and in-ground cremation and casket interment services.
  • Assist families and Funeral Directors during Chapel Services.
  • Act as backup to memorial and inscription requests, advising on the design and location of new memorials to facilitate Cemetery operations to ensure completion of approved work, coordinating with the cemetery memorials team and outside contractors.
  • Provide exceptional customer service as needed. Answer the telephone, respond to email inquiries, and greet customers, vendors and the general public, providing services/information and/or rapid resolution of customer concerns.
  • Manage database and records management with Director of Cemetery Services to ensure timely and accurate documentation of all transactions.
  • Work as part of the marketing team to maintain and improve marketing materials, communication and programs
  • Manage office supplies, inventory of brochures/literature, maps, and general office organization, infrastructure, and planning.
  • Design and process annual calendar of mailings.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Cemetery Services and greenhouse team to produce and manage reports for flower bed plantings and holiday tribute placements, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Level of Responsibility:

  • Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow routine work to proceed alone; collaborative projects with Director of Cemetery Services.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fluency in English required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in customer service and office management in an office setting. Ability to interact with clients with compassion and patience.
  • Superior communication skills, verbal and written, to successfully communicate with customers in a low-pressure sales capacity.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills required.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Microsoft Office and database management experience required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Valid Driver's License Required.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $36.00 per hour
