Board of Directors position
One Can Help, Inc.
Job Description
One Can Help, Inc. (OCH) is a dynamic 501(c)(3) organization that is now celebrating its 20th year. OCH provides the missing resources underserved children and families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF ) and/or the juvenile courts urgently need right now in order to take that next positive step forward. Many of the needs we address are relatively modest in cost — a bed, a security deposit, school supplies, utility assistance, transportation, specialized services. By quickly providing the urgently needed resources that cannot be found elsewhere, OCH is responsibly and impactfully changing lives across Massachusetts.
OCH is currently seeking board members who are excited by our mission and want to be an active part of moving it forward. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience and interest in at least one of two areas: fundraising/development, and accounting/ finance. However, we will consider applications from all interested individuals. Prior board experience is preferred but not required.
We ask each Board member to commit to the following:
1. Attend Board meetings regularly, be prepared for the meetings, and actively participate in the discussions. The Board typically meets 5-6 times per year.
2. Be an active member of one or more Board committees
3. Be active in all fundraising efforts. Solicit donations. Help with the preparations for the annual fundraiser and attend the fundraiser.
4. Contribute direct finance support. We expect 100% of the Board to contribute annually at a level roughly equal to the top three organizations that they support.
5. Raise awareness of the organization and its work through outreach and other efforts.
Further information about OCH is available at onecanhelp.org . Please contact Wendy Wolf, Co-Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee, at wendy.wolf@rcn.com if you interested in working with us. We look forward to hearing from you!
