Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) is currently seeking a full-time Associate Director of Membership Recruitment. This role will report to the Senior Director of Membership. The Associate Director of Membership Recruitment drives volunteer and youth membership growth by collaborating with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies. Leading the Membership Recruitment team, they oversee regional Membership Recruitment Specialists to manage prospects, form new volunteer-led troops, and support non-troop pathway registrations. This role collaborates closely with other membership and cross-departmental leadership to represent the Girl Scout brand and ensure an excellent onboarding experience for new members.

This is a mobilized hybrid work role that includes time in a home office, visits to the main office, and travel up to 40% within GSEMA’s council footprint. As this role may also involve work activities on properties, designated sites/events and community locations as needed, must have access to reliable transportation.  

Explore the Dynamic Responsibilities of This Role:

Strategic Growth
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet annual membership goals for volunteers and youth.
  • Review progress toward goals with senior leadership and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with marketing and senior leadership on annual membership lead generation campaigns, including material design and execution tactics. 
  • Ensure a high-quality customer service experience for new members, especially new volunteers. 

Team Leadership
  • Oversee a team of Membership Recruitment Specialists, each covering an assigned geographic territory.
  • Manage Membership Recruitment Specialists by:
    • supervising progress toward goals, 
    • supporting understanding of and adherence to team processes,
    • skill development, and
    • coaching through problem solving.
  • Develop, maintain, and update recruitment team processes for:
    • promoting and delivering Discover Girl Scouts events, 
    • lead nurturing and management, 
    • recruiting volunteers and youth to form active troops, 
    • new member communications and hand-offs to Conversion team, and
    • supporting community leadership (service unit) volunteers who assist with local new member recruitment. 

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a membership organization.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of work experience in related field, experience in membership sales preferred.
  • Effective staff management and team motivation skills.
  • Proven project management ability.
  • Strong public relations skills and community collaboration development.
  • Clear oral and written communication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to manage various variables and personalities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel within the council.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office; social networking; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Bilingual skills desirable.
  • Girl Scout membership experience is a plus.
