About Bethany Hill Place

Conceived in 1994 as a response to the growing problem of family homelessness, Bethany Hill Place has a dual focus on basic needs (affordable housing) and education.  We are a secular 501c3 nonprofit organization sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, and guided by their values of unity, nonviolence and peaceful reconciliation of conflict, gracious hospitality and service to the dear neighbor. For over 25 years, Bethany Hill Place has provided individuals and families in MetroWest with the affordable housing, educational opportunity, and community support to transform their lives.

Assistant Program Director

Bethany Hill Place, located in South Framingham, seeks an experienced part-time (30hrs/week) Assistant Program Director.   The Assistant Program Director reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing and coordinating educational counseling of residents and supporting program activities at Bethany Hill. The Assistant Program Director collaborates with the Program Director to ensure that the counseling and support offered is responsive to resident needs. S/he seeks to empower residents and foster a sense of community among residents and staff.

Duties:

Assist each resident to achieve his/her educational goals by working closely in a one-on-one individualized counseling relationship.

Oversee services in the areas of career exploration, pre-GED and GED tutoring, college admissions, financial aid, scholarship and grant counseling, job attainment, adult education, and college level tutoring

Partner with the Program Director to envision and execute individualized tutoring, counseling, programming, and community building activities

In conjunction with the Program Director, meet regularly with volunteers to discuss and facilitate services and to maintain updated reports on resident progress

Gather and share information with Program Director and Property Manager about resident educational progress and ensure all residents are moving forward on their goals

Collaborate with other agencies in order to inform and interest residents in programs and supports available outside of Bethany Hill Place

Direct, facilitate, and guide special programs and activities

Maintain a mentoring presence with residents at all times.  Model service to the others in need, care for the earth, peaceful conflict resolution, and gracious hospitality at all times

Provide program support for evening events up to twice a week.  

 

Qualifications

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

BA required, MA in Education, Social Work or related field preferred

Strong experience in 1:1 counseling

Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds, comfort acting as an advocate and liaison for Bethany Hill Place

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proficiency with MS Office, Google Drive, and Zoom videoconference

Effective oral and written communication skills

Ability to work flexible hours – oversight of regular evening workshops

Salary:  $44,000
