One Family has grown significantly in the last year- adding new Family Self Sufficiency programming, doubling the number of families served, and growing the staff by more than 50%. The Assistant Director of Development will play an integral role in shaping and executing fundraising plans to build sustainable support for the organization as it continues to grow.
A part of the sustainable growth plan will include growing the individual giving program. The team plans to execute fundraising strategies to build a robust pipeline of individual donors and prospects, focused primarily on the major ($1,000 plus) gifts level. The Assistant Director’s primary focus will be to achieve annual departmental goals, with a particular emphasis on cultivating and securing new major giving donors through individual and community and family foundations.
We will be most excited about candidates with in-depth knowledge of the nonprofit sector and the philanthropic landscape of the Greater Boston area, who have experience building and managing donor engagement plans and making face to face solicitations of $1,000+. We seek creative energy that will manifest in thoughtful strategy along with the skills to ensure successful implementation. The role requires effective communication, a creative independent approach to work, and demonstrated success building and growing relationships in previous roles.
This role reports to the Director of Development and Communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Director of Development and Communications in creating and executing the organization's fundraising strategy, with a focus on identifying new donor prospects, cultivating relationships, and securing major gifts from individuals and foundations that increase overall retention and giving levels of philanthropic support
- With the Director of Development and Communications, create and manage organizational budget; track and report on progress to goal to Executive Director, Finance Director, and Development Committee including contracts, gifts, and pledges.
- Through analyzing fundraising data and identifying trends, lead on prospecting new donors and family foundations at the major giving level
- Manage a portfolio of existing major donors by stewarding these relationships and upgrading gifts
- Manage relationships between donors and board members, staff, and other key stakeholders who interact with them. Ensure open communication and collaboration.
- Serve as an ambassador for One Family by representing the organization at external events, meetings, and networking opportunities
- Provide leadership in the design and execution of activities focused on increasing revenue associated with fundraising events
- Partner with program staff to identify compelling funding opportunities aligned with One Family’s mission and priorities
