Annual Fund & Grants Manager

 
The Annual Fund & Grants Manager is a full-time, exempt position that oversees Hale Education’s $750,000+ annual fund and portfolio of grants, which support Hale’s belief that nature, education, and recreation inspire us to learn, empower us to lead, and challenge us all to create a world in which people, place, and purpose are united. RESPONSIBILITIES

 
The Annual Fund & Grants Manager fundraises by developing and executing campaigns, working with staff and volunteers to cultivate and steward donors, and securing and sustaining grant funding and sponsorship. Areas of responsibility include:
 

1.      Annual Giving: Directs and implements annual giving campaigns, tailoring successful approaches to various constituencies. Strategy will include direct mail, email, and digital efforts.
  • Plans and executes a minimum of two major appeals per year with support from external vendors (graphic designers, printers, etc.).
  • Works to integrate annual membership program with annual giving for 2023 or by 2024.
  • Sets and achieves goals for recurring gifts, and leadership giving.
  • Manages Hale’s fundraising database which includes maintaining constituent records, creating and monitoring dashboards, and preparing reports.
  • Assists with management of Hale’s Boston Marathon team, including application, interview, fundraising, and reporting processes in accordance with requirements set by the Boston Athletic Association’s Official Charity Program.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in Program Delivery and Marketing to capture organizations needs and craft compelling stories. 

2.      Cultivation and Stewardship: Creates and manages ongoing relationship management plan for donors and prospects
  • Works with various staff members to plan and implement donor cultivation and stewardship events, ranging from informal get-togethers to large-scale celebrations, including Hale’s annual fall gathering.
  • Collaborates with Director of Marketing to create annual Impact Report, solicitation materials and thank you notes or postcards. 
  • Coordinates quarterly acknowledgment letters for annual giving.
  • Develops outreach strategy (including phone and email) to personally thank donors to support retention and advancement.
  • Leverages volunteers to support fundraising efforts. 

3.      Grants and Sponsorships: Oversees annual calendar of grants and manages relationships with organizational sponsors.
  • Coordinates pre- and post-award grant activities, including applications, data collection, and reporting; relays impact to funders as needed.
  • Writes 15–30 grants per year with support from Executive Director and other staff.
  • Creates annual sponsorship package and conducts outreach to 10–30 prospects.

The Annual Giving & Grants Manager will create and maintain a reputation of credibility, integrity, and fairness, professionally represent Hale at all times, and effectively collaborate with colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS


The ideal candidate will have:
•        A college degree or equivalent experience in development, marketing, communications or a related field
•        A minimum of two years’ experience in fundraising; this could include volunteer or professional experience, but should include knowledge of best practices and terminology
•        Experience with Salesforce or comparable CRM systems (such as Raiser’s Edge)
•        Excellent writing skills
•        Enthusiasm and skill in interacting with constituents from diverse backgrounds and language groups (ideally in multiple languages; multilingual fluency is a plus, but is not required)
•        A can-do attitude and desire to find solutions and provide excellent customer service
•        Ability to efficiently manage projects, timelines, and budgets
•        An entrepreneurial style that balances initiative, independence, and collaboration
•        A professional and discreet approach, especially when dealing with confidential or sensitive materials
•        A valid MA driver's license and access to a vehicle
•        Flexibility in accommodating a work schedule that is occasionally dictated by our event schedule, including the ability to work some evenings and weekends
 

SALARY AND BENEFITS


  • Starting salary range of $62,000–$72,000, commensurate with experience
  • 27 paid days off
