Job Description

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking a coordinator to oversee a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) summer program for PK-5th grade in the afternoons for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program (MMEP). The program runs for 5 weeks starting on July 5th and will be held at Boland Elementary School in Springfield. The sessions will be from 1-4 pm Monday through Thursday and will be connected with the Springfield Public Schools’ summer school program. The coordinator will support multiple classrooms of students who are working with their classroom instructors on fun art and science activities. Coordinators will assist in contacting parents of students when needed, enforcing school and program safety guidelines, and supervising and supporting all staff and students.

This is you:
  • Has experience managing academic programs (classroom teaching included)
  • Has experience working with school age children in a formal or informal setting
  • Has experience working with English learners or other diverse populations
  • Available 16-18 hours a week between July 5th and August 4th plus a few hours the last week of June for training

Essential Functions:
  • Oversee all classrooms in the MMEP summer program
  • Support instructors in adapting their daily plan to accommodate the abilities, needs and interests of students
  • Collect and monitor attendance 
  • Communicate with parents and guardians concerning attendance issues 
  • Communicate regularly with the Academic Programs Manager 

Minimum Qualifications*:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university 
  • One year of teaching experience in a formal or informal setting
  • Leadership experience 
  • Are able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Program management experience 
  • M.A. or M.Ed from an accredited college or university
  • DESE/DEEC Certification

Compensation: $40/hour

Terms of Employment: This position is 16-18 hours a week from July 5th to August 4th plus training at the end of June
 
Working Conditions: CES employees must follow CES policies and comply with their work location specific guidelines.
