Job Description

  
PRIMARY FUNCTION
 
Working with LAB’s administrative and program staff and volunteers the Adult Services Coordinator will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all adult program activities and services for the blind/visually impaired. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
-Plan and coordinate events, field trips and workshops for all adult programs.  
-Creating and distributing monthly schedule of activities for the adult program in large print and Braille.
-Recruit, train and schedules volunteers to assist with program activities.  
-Work with staff from Massachusetts Commission for the Blind to coordinate referrals and other program
   partnering with MCB.
-Identify and Outreach to Council on Aging, other nonprofits for new opportunities to link with other agencies in the Greater Lowell area.
-Drive agency van and Coordinate transportation for participants
-Maintain appropriate attendance and documentation as required.  Assist with record-keeping and 
  program/grant reports as needed.
-Work with clients to identify and order appropriate assistive devices.
-Other duties as assigned.
 
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE DESIRED

-Degree in related field preferred, equivalent experience considered.
-Experience working with the blind and visually impaired a plus, but not required. 
-Must have a valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record.  
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. 
-Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
-Must be highly motivated, possess strong organizational skills, want to have fun, be able to be patient and have  
  appropriate boundaries.
-MS Office and web competency required. 
-Must be able to pass a CORI background check.
-Fluency in Spanish a plus
  
This position is a part time position reporting to the Executive Director. Experience working with people with disabilities or elder populations preferred.
